SUNDAY’S “ALL-TURF” LATE PICK 4 SEQUENCE AT GOLDEN GATE GUARANTEED AT $250,000

Track officials announced earlier in the week that the Late Pick 4 wager at Golden Gate Fields this Sunday afternoon will have a guaranteed pool of $250,000. The Late Pick 4, a 50-cent minimum bet, goes as the last four races on the program each day.

On Sunday, the Late Pick 4 sequence is comprised of a quartet of turf races, making the popular wager an “all-turf” sequence. The first leg, Race 8, is the $250,000 Grade 3 San Francisco Mile with a field of 8 entered. Race 9 is a contentious affair, with ten 20k filly and mare claimers signed on. Race 10 catches the eye, a first level allowance race with 11 entrants, while the nightcap is a claiming race with 10 fillies and mares. 39 horses are entered in the four-race sequence, which equates to 9.75 horses per race. Three races will be contested at one mile while the second leg will be run at one mile and a sixteenth. The turf is expected to be listed as “firm” and the rails will be set at 0 feet.

“We are very excited to be offering a guaranteed pool of a quarter-million dollars in the Late Pick 4 pool on Sunday,” said Golden Gate Fields Vice President and General Manager David Duggan. “It’s our way of saying thank you to all of bettors who have followed Golden Gate Fields throughout the year.”

First post on the 11-race program this Sunday is 12:15 PM PT. On the same token, post time for the first leg of the Late Pick 4, the San Francisco Mile, is set for 3:55 PM PT. Along with the guaranteed Late Pick 4 pool, Sunday afternoon is closing day at the Winter/Spring meeting, which means mandatory payouts will be in play throughout the afternoon. The Golden Pick Six jackpot wager, the Rolling Super High Five wager and both Pick 5 sequences must be paid out.
