Tomlin Kicks Away From Competition In Golden Gate Debutante

Berkeley, Calif. (November 23, 2018)- Tomlin gave jockey Frank Alvarado his second stakes win at the fall meet when the 2-year-old filly was up on a contested pace early before drawing off from her competition late to win the $50,000 Golden Gate Debutante at Golden Gate Fields on Friday afternoon. The Golden Gate Debutante is the only 2-year-old filly sprint stake at the current fall meeting.

Tomlin, trained by Steve Specht, won the six-furlong Tapeta contest by 2 and a half lengths. La Aguililla, a recent first-out maiden special weight winner, ran a gallant second while November allowance victor Swing Thoughts completed the top three placings. Tomlin stopped the clock for six furlongs in 1:09.88 seconds.

Owners Fairview LLC purchased Tomlin. for $200,000 at the Keeneland 2017 yearling sale. Tomlin is by top North American stallion Distorted Humor and out of a stakes winning Dehere mare named Belle of Perintown. With the stakes triumph, Tomlin improved her overall record to 3 wins and 1 third from 5 career starts, with career earnings of $71,820.
